Safety of Operation

    The analysis of Safety of Operation (RAMS studies) can ensure the adequacy of technical and functional characteristics of a system and its intended use and at the lowest cost. This is done through the establishment of an integrated process to the phases of the product life cycle..

    Safety of Operation is evaluated through analysis of 4 components :

  • Reliability: The ability of an entity to perform a required function under given conditions for a given time interval,

  • Maintainability: Under given use conditions, ability of an entity to be maintained or restored on a given time in a state where it can perform a required function, when maintenance is performed under given conditions, with prescribed procedures and resources,

  • Availability: The ability of a system or product to be able to accomplish a function under given conditions at a given moment or during a given time interval, assuming that the provision of external resources required is performed,

  • Security : Property of a product to represent to his environment and himself a risk assessed by the potential dangers inherent to its manufacturing and in its implementation.

  • To determine these four quantities (also known as RAMS Analysis for Reliability - Maintainability - Availability - Security), the ISD team of consultants mastery of the various electronic standards (eg 80-811 or UTEC FIDES UTEC 80 -810 or IEC 62380, MIL HDBK 217 F, ...), collections of mechanical reliability (NPRD 95 NSWC), but also the methods and tools dedicated to the analysis of dependability, including:

    • The drafting of plans and RAMS Testability,
    • The functional analysis (FA) type or SADT APTE,
    • The Preliminary Risk Analysis (PRA),
    • Blocks reliability diagram (FBD)
    • Calculations of forecast reliability (MTBF)
    • Allowances for dependability:
    • iticality)
    • Trees of failures,
    • Trees of Events
    • Testability Analyses,
    • Studies Maintainability (MTTR)
    • Calculations of Availability,
    • Security Analysis (FHA, SSA ZHA, CCA)
    • Demonstrations of operational reliability,
    • The treatment of data from the Return of Experience (REX).

    ISD also has a perfect knowledge of the conduct of FIDES type audits.

    The current team is mastering the software tools such as RAM COMMANDER, Fault tree, Aralia Simtree, Risk Spectrum, Item toolkit, Workbench, FIDES, Favoweb, D-LCC, MEADEP.

    ISD provides distribution, training and technical support for software tools published by the company ALD, namely: RAM Commander, Favoweb, D-LCC, MEADEP
